Valorant Console Settings: Mastering Focus Mode
Valorant on console is not just a port; it's a reimagining of the tactical shooter. Riot Games solved the "controller vs. mouse" problem not with aim assist, but with a new mechanic called Focus Mode. Mastering this mode is the only way to hit headshots consistently without the magnetic aim assist found in games like Call of Duty.
What is Focus Mode?
Focus Mode is essentially "Hip Fire" and "ADS" blended together. When you hold the Left Trigger (Focus), your sensitivity drops to a lower, customized value, but you don't fully aim down sights.
This allows you to have a High Base Sensitivity for fast turning, checking corners, and movement, but a Low Focus Sensitivity for micro-adjusting onto heads at long range. The meta strategy is to use Base Sens to get your crosshair near the enemy, then hold Focus to slow down and click the head.
Aim Curves: Standard, Heavy, or Light?
Valorant offers unique aim curves. Standard is the most balanced, offering a predictable ramp-up. Heavy adds a delay to the acceleration, making it feel steadier for holding angles but slower for reacting to flanks. Light is twitchy and responsive. For tactical play where crosshair placement is king, most Radiant players on console prefer Standard or Heavy to prevent over-flicking when an enemy peeks.
